The Kentucky Wildcats and coach Mark Pope have been active in the transfer portal, looking for players who can help them rebound next season. They have guards Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins on board, but still need more. They await word from Donnie Freeman, but are also still looking for depth as well. A new name to watch for is Justin McBride.

Jacob Polacheck of Kentucky Sports Radio reports that Kentucky is working to set up a visit to Lexington for McBride this week. The former James Madison star is trying to make the visit happen once he "sorts out transcript details."

Out of high school, in 2023, McBride was a four-star player who committed to to Oklahoma State. He transferred to Nevada after his freshman season, and then to James Madison prior to last season. There, he earned the starting job and averaged 15.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He also made 40% of his three-point attempts, a valuable stat for the Wildcats.

Adding another shooter would be a win for Pope and Kentucky. McBride could help as an off-the-bench guy if they can get him in town. We will update his recruitment as more information becomes available.
