Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers has heaped praise on Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of their Barclays Women's Super League clash at Broadfield Stadium on Wednesday night. The Gunners' boss admitted that the in-form Seagulls have been a tough nut to crack this season, making for what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Brighton have already made their mark this campaign, stunning Arsenal by knocking them out of the Adobe Women's FA Cup. They've followed that up with impressive results, including a victory over Manchester City and a hard-fought draw at Manchester United. Speaking in her pre-match press conference, Slegers didn't hold back her admiration for the Sussex side.

"I think Brighton are a very good team," Slegers said. "They're brave and convinced in the way they play, both in and out of possession. What really impresses me is their versatility—they can adapt their game in different ways, adjusting to the opposition and circumstances. They've been doing really, really well, and they're a hard team to play against."

The previous defeat to Brighton came down to set-piece vulnerabilities, with Arsenal conceding from a throw-in and a corner. Slegers is keen to tighten up those areas, knowing that every dead-ball situation could be decisive. "It's always part of our preparation—we have a plan in place," she explained. "We look at our structure, our qualities, and the opposition's threats. Brighton have some really tall players who are strong in the air, so defending set plays will be a key area in the game."

With Arsenal's UEFA Women's Champions League run ending over the weekend, the Gunners have been juggling a packed schedule of two games per week. But Slegers sees it as a positive challenge. "We're happy to have a big schedule," she said. "We know where we're going with this group. We're constantly growing and testing ourselves, so we want to play games. We have a couple of games in hand, but everyone is eager to perform for Arsenal."

As the Gunners look to bounce back and close the gap in the WSL standings, Wednesday's showdown at Broadfield Stadium is shaping up to be a must-watch clash between two sides with plenty to prove.
