Liverpool have been put on notice: act fast on a promising midfield target, or risk paying a much heftier price down the line. The message is clear—time is of the essence for the Reds.

According to The Telegraph's Dominic King, securing a natural defensive midfielder is "essential" for Liverpool this summer. The report highlights Lens powerhouse Mamadou Sangare as a player who's "well-regarded" and firmly on FSG's radar. The 23-year-old Mali international has been turning heads with his performances in Ligue 1, and his potential has caught the attention of Anfield's decision-makers.

While no official transfer links have surfaced yet, one Liverpool-supporting football analyst and FA licensed coach is urging Arne Slot's side to waste no time if they're serious about the midfielder. Dr Phil Barter, Academic Director at Middlesex University Mauritius, broke down Sangare's game on the Anfield Index podcast, painting a picture of a player who could be the perfect fit for Liverpool's system.

"He just stays in the six position," Barter explained. "He anticipates situations exceptionally well. He lets the first duel happen and positions himself to recover the second ball. He's not just reacting; he's predicting. When the ball breaks loose, he is already there. It is almost magnetic how often he ends up with possession."

Barter also praised Sangare's ability to progress play—a key trait for any Liverpool midfielder. "He can ping it off either foot—left to right, right to left, it is just natural to him. He plays forward instinctively. That is crucial. Liverpool need a six who progresses play, not just recycles it."

With Sangare's current price tag estimated between £35m and £40m, Barter warned that hesitation could be costly. "If you wait another season, the price goes up significantly. Act now, or lose the opportunity," he said. For a club like Liverpool, known for smart, timely investments, this could be a chance to lock in a bargain before the market catches up.

As the summer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether Liverpool move quickly to bring this "all-round midfielder" to Anfield. For fans, the message is simple: patience is a virtue, but in the transfer market, it can also be a pricey one.
