An NBA writer believed the Philadelphia 76ers should acquire a beloved Minnesota Timberwolves contributor this summer.

The Philadelphia 76ers' 2025-26 season came to a painful end on Sunday night, and now the front office faces a critical offseason decision. While nobody realistically expected the Sixers to overcome a 3-0 Eastern Conference Semifinals deficit, fans hoped for at least a competitive showing in Game 4. Instead, Philadelphia fell flat, trailing 43-24 after the first quarter and suffering a humiliating 144-114 loss to the Knicks at Wells Fargo Arena.

With the offseason officially underway, the 76ers join several other eliminated teams in weighing their options. According to Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, one intriguing target could be a beloved Minnesota Timberwolves guard making just $13 million.

"A dynamic wing who impacts both ends of the floor should rank high on Philly's wish list," Buckley wrote. "That's also one of the most coveted archetypes around the Association and one that's almost never available at less than a significant price."

The player in question? Terrence Shannon Jr., the 26-year-old guard who is beginning to show why many considered him the biggest steal of the 2024 NBA Draft. Injuries have opened the door for Shannon to showcase his skills, and he hasn't disappointed.

"Shannon, to be clear, is not that kind of player yet," Buckley explained. "But with his tools and talent, why can't he become one? The Wolves might point to his age and forgettable first two seasons as evidence, but that would also mean their hope in him is fading."

For Philadelphia, this could represent a classic buy-low opportunity. Shannon is an aggressive, efficient downhill attacker with all the physical tools to become a pesky, versatile defender. Despite being 26, he's still relatively fresh, having played just 75 regular-season games. If the Sixers trust their developmental staff, they might unlock the potential that made Shannon a highly touted prospect in the first place.

As the 76ers look to retool around their core, adding a player with Shannon's upside and reasonable contract could be a savvy move—one that addresses their need for two-way wing depth without breaking the bank.
