Rajasthan Royals bowling coach Shane Bond admitted his team was "not good enough" after a heavy home defeat to Gujarat Titans. He highlighted the toll of a hectic schedule and stressed the need for bowlers to evolve in the current T20 era. The Royals' playoff hopes are now under severe pressure following their seventh loss in eight home matches.

Shane Bond didn't mince words after Rajasthan Royals' latest home defeat. The bowling coach delivered a stark assessment: his team simply wasn't good enough. And for bowlers struggling in today's T20 era, his message was even more direct—evolve or get left behind.

The Royals' playoff hopes took another serious hit as Gujarat Titans cruised to a commanding win in Jaipur. This marked Rajasthan's seventh loss in their last eight home matches, a worrying trend that has derailed what started as a promising campaign. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan tore through the Royals' bowling attack, setting up another massive 220-plus total that left the home side with an impossible chase.

Bond didn't shy away from the reality of the situation. "It was a disappointing performance from us. This was a really big game for us, with both teams on the same points," he admitted. The grueling schedule has taken its toll—five games in 15 days left the squad battered and lacking sharpness when they needed it most. With only three matches remaining, the math is simple: win at least two, possibly all three, to keep playoff dreams alive.

The veteran coach also addressed Shimron Hetmyer's struggles. Despite arriving in strong form after a stellar T20 World Cup campaign, the big-hitting batsman has failed to fire this season. "Hettie would be the first to admit he didn't get the runs he would have liked," Bond said. "But across the board, we weren't good enough. Chasing 230 was always going to be a massive challenge."

Perhaps Bond's most pointed comments were reserved for the broader challenges facing bowlers in modern T20 cricket. Batters are constantly innovating—upper cuts, reverse sweeps, scoops—expanding their shot-making arsenal with every passing season. For bowlers, the choice is stark: fear the changing game, or embrace it and become a superstar.

For the Royals, time is running out. Their bowling attack needs to rediscover its edge quickly—or their season will be over before they know it.
