Liam Walsh says the support of family and friends helped him play his best in Luton's EFL Trophy win after he and his partner lost a baby through miscarriage.

Luton Town midfielder Liam Walsh delivered a performance of immense personal strength at Wembley, dedicating his team's EFL Trophy victory to his partner, Aston Villa and England star Missy Bo Kearns, following the tragic loss of their baby through miscarriage.

With about 30 family and friends in the stands, including Kearns, Walsh played a key role in Luton's 3-1 win over Stockport County. After the final whistle, a brief but powerful moment with his partner captured the day's profound emotion. "I had two minutes with her on the way up to collect the trophy," Walsh shared. "She told me how proud she was. She was the first person I saw in the crowd... and it meant the world to me."

Walsh credited this unwavering support system—from his family to manager Jack Wilshere and his teammates—for giving him the resilience to excel on football's biggest stage. "With the lads behind me, I can go on to do whatever I want," he stated, highlighting the power of collective spirit both on and off the pitch.

Now, the focus shifts from Wembley glory to the League One promotion push. Sitting six points from the play-offs with five games left, the Hatters are channeling that winning feeling. As Walsh revealed, the message from manager Wilshere was clear: "We've got that feeling of winning at Wembley, and we want to be back here." It's a testament to the team's resolve, mirroring the personal fortitude Walsh displayed in the face of adversity.
