The 2026 NFL Draft class for the Detroit Lions is finally here, and while we won't get a rookie minicamp introduction this year, the excitement is building for what's to come. These seven new Lions might get a taste of organized team activities (OTAs) later this month, but with so much else on the calendar, our full attention will be locked in on training camp at the end of July. That's where the pads come on, the intensity ramps up, and we truly get to see these rookies—especially those drafted to battle in the trenches—show what they're made of.
In the latest installment of our 2026 Lions draft roundtable, we're zeroing in on the pick we can't wait to watch in camp. Last year's class set a high bar, but this group is loaded with competitors who could make for must-see viewing. For me, the obvious choice is Blake Miller. Watching him step into Drew Petzing's offense, seize the right tackle job from Larry Borom, and build chemistry with Tate Ratledge is going to be fascinating. His ability to get out in space and execute perimeter blocks, plus those inevitable reps against Aidan Hutchinson and Derrick Moore, makes him the most compelling story on the field.
I've always been drawn to the battles in the trenches during camp, and the Lions using a first-round pick on the offensive line only deepens my focus. Blake Miller versus Derrick Moore is going to be a matchup to watch, but I'm especially curious to see how the rookie handles Aidan Hutchinson. Hutch routinely wrecks every tackle not named Penei Sewell in practice, so Miller's growth against that kind of elite pressure will be a true test of his potential.
And speaking of Derrick Moore, even though I wasn't sold on the pick at first, I'm genuinely excited to see how he fits into this roster. If DJ Wonnum represents an upgrade over Marcus Davenport, then Moore could and should be an upgrade over Al-Quadin Muhammad. That likely means a passing-down role to start, but if he shows a well-rounded game, his snap count could climb quickly. This training camp feels like the perfect stage for these rookies to make their mark, and we'll be watching every snap.
