Germany's Alexander Zverev has reached the last 16 or the Rome Masters after a win against Alexander Blockx on Sunday. The world number three beat Blockx for the second time in a space of nine days in a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Alexander Zverev is rolling through the clay season with authority. The world No. 3 punched his ticket to the Rome Masters round of 16 on Sunday, dispatching Alexander Blockx with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory.

This marks the second time in just nine days that Zverev has bested the Belgian—he also swept Blockx in straight sets during the semifinals of the Madrid Masters last week. While Zverev fell to Jannik Sinner in the Madrid final, his momentum in Rome shows no signs of slowing.

"I was much better than I was two days ago," Zverev said after the match. "It was difficult to play pretty tennis from the baseline today because the conditions were not easy, it was very windy. But overall, I am very happy."

Next up for the German star is either American Tommy Paul or Italy's own Luciano Darderi. With his powerful serve and relentless baseline game, Zverev looks poised to make a deep run in the Italian capital—and fans are already eyeing that quarterfinal clash.
