However, the promising duo's run was cut short when Sinner, currently chasing a return to the world No. 1 ranking in singles, withdrew before their second-round match to focus solely on his singles title bid. This left Bergs to reflect on their brief but successful partnership after his own stunning singles victory over Andrey Rublev.

Speaking to the Tennis Channel, Bergs expressed his understanding of Sinner's decision while holding out hope for future collaborations. "Unfortunately, there had to come an end to it today," Bergs said. "But hopefully in the future, we can still play a little bit together."

The Belgian revealed the partnership's casual origins, which began with shared practice sessions in Indian Wells. "We had some fun, we had some talks," Bergs explained. "Practice was done, and he asked me, 'Do you want to play doubles in Monte Carlo?' I was like, 'I’ll think about it' [laughs]."

Bergs humorously acknowledged the surprise many felt at the pairing, stating, "Obviously a lot of people are wondering why he wants to play doubles with me. Honestly? I don’t know! But I was open-minded. We had a lot of fun and played some good tennis." His comments suggest that if Sinner seeks another doubles partner in the future, Bergs would be a willing and capable choice.

Bergs' own singles journey in Monte Carlo has been impressive. After a straightforward first-round win over Adrian Mannarino, he delivered a masterclass performance in the second round, dismantling 2023 champion Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-1. This sets up a thrilling third-round clash against Alexander Zverev, where Bergs will fight for a spot in the quarterfinals, proving that his strong form extends well beyond the doubles court.
