Zion Young Sends Message After Ravens Pick: “They’ll Regret It”There's a certain edge you want from a pass rusher, and Zion Young already has it. After going through the predraft process, meeting teams, and taking visits, Young made it clear he's carrying something with him into Baltimore: a chip on his shoulder. That confidence and edge are exactly what the Ravens and first-year head coach Jesse Minter look for when building their defense, and Zion Young already sounds like a natural fit. His experience from multiple visits and his reaction to not going earlier in the draft add fuel to his motivation, which could translate quickly once he hits the field. If that competitive mindset carries over, Baltimore may have landed another player eager to prove a point from day one.
When asked about his experience leading up to draft night and what stood out about joining the Baltimore Ravens, Young reflected on the process—but also sent a message.
“Oh, first off, I enjoyed the whole Ravens staff ... I enjoyed everybody. The guys I met in the locker room, the food I ate – I enjoyed those guys. I was fired up being there, and I'm fired up about everything. I got a chance to go on quite a bit of ‘Top 30’ visits. The competitor in me wanted me to go yesterday, but hey, I went today. I'm feeling pretty good. And I'm very much so thankful that the Ravens chose me. All those other guys that I met with, they most definitely, they’ll regret what they did for sure.”
That's not arrogance, it's belief. And Baltimore has built its defense on players wired exactly like that.
