Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has offered a candid take on the team's recent injury struggles, suggesting the team's demanding practice schedule under former head coach John Harbaugh played a significant role. Speaking on the "4th and South" podcast hosted by Jarvis Landry and Leonard Fournette, Flowers praised Harbaugh's ability to prepare players for game action but questioned the physical toll of the regimen.

"Bro, we're [in] full pads all the time," Flowers said with a smile. "However many practices in pads you can get, every single one. We're doing one-on-ones in Week 17... everybody out there, we're tired, we're still going."

When asked how players managed the intense workload, Flowers was blunt. "We don't," he stated. "Low key, that's why we had a lot of injuries – because of how we practiced, how we went. The load was heavy."

The Ravens were indeed decimated by injuries during the 2025 season, at one point being without seven Pro Bowl players, including star quarterback Lamar Jackson who missed four games with a hamstring issue. Flowers believes the recent coaching change could help the team avoid a similar fate moving forward, implying that a shift in practice philosophy might be key to keeping the roster healthier. For athletes at every level, this highlights the critical balance between rigorous preparation and physical preservation—a lesson that extends from the NFL field to your own training routine.
