Former Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch came into the 2026 NFL Draft not expecting to face controversy. The Bulldogs standout was arrested last weekend in Athens on two misdemeanor obstruction charges. But will NFL teams see past what seems like nonsense?
Branch’s NFL draft stock is now in question after he failed “to comply with multiple verbal lawful commands,” according to the police report provided by the AP. According to the Athens-Clarke County jail log, Branch was released Sunday on a combined $39 bail on the charges of obstructing public sidewalks/streets and the obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
The arrest came four days before the NFL draft as Branch was projected as a solid second-rounder. However, this all seems minor in nature and likely a misunderstanding.
