Kicker Younghoe Koo is getting another shot at the NFL, and this weekend, he'll be trading in his jersey for a tryout pass with the New Orleans Saints.
According to the team's rookie minicamp roster, the veteran kicker—best known for his stints with the Falcons and Giants—will attend the camp on a tryout basis. It's a low-risk, high-reward opportunity for both sides, as Koo looks to prove he still has the leg to compete at the highest level.
Koo's 2025 season was a rollercoaster. He was released by the Falcons after missing a game-tying field goal in a heartbreaking Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. Later, he joined the Giants for five games, where he went 4-of-6 on field goals and 11-of-12 on extra points. But the most talked-about moment? A bizarre whiff on a field goal attempt against the Patriots—the kind of play that goes viral for all the wrong reasons. Strangely, that mishap led to a positive outcome: a Kentucky man discovered he had a brain tumor after laughing so hard at the miscue that he had a seizure, ultimately saving his life.
Over his career, Koo has been remarkably reliable, converting 185 of 217 field goal attempts (85.3%) and 186 of 194 extra points (95.9%). Those numbers put him in elite company among active kickers.
In New Orleans, Koo faces an uphill battle. The Saints already have returning kicker Charlie Smyth on the roster, and they recently signed undrafted free agent Mason Shipley. But if Koo can impress this weekend, he might just earn himself a spot in a training camp battle that could shake up the Saints' special teams unit.
