Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is back on the court and playing at an elite level, but her biggest challenge right now isn't physical—it's mental. After missing all but 13 games last season due to injury, Clark is healthy again, yet she admits she's still working through a "mental hurdle" that comes with trusting her body to perform without getting hurt again.

Through the first two games of the season, Clark has been nothing short of dominant, averaging 22 points and eight assists while logging heavy minutes. But even in the midst of her stellar play, caution has crept in. During the Fever's season-opening loss to the Dallas Wings on Saturday, she made two trips to the tunnel to get her back adjusted. After the game, she explained that her back "gets out of line pretty quickly" and that those quick visits helped "get my back put back in place a little bit."

Clark described the experience as a "mental hurdle," acknowledging that it takes time to fully trust her body again after a significant injury. But there's a silver lining: each time she pushes through a moment of doubt, she builds more confidence. "That moment where my back tightened up, I think I almost got confidence from that because I came back in and I played eight more minutes, so I felt great," Clark said Wednesday. "It's something I can take confidence from. But it's going to take me a little bit to really get over the mental hurdle of trusting my body."

For Clark, the hardest part of an injury isn't just the rehab—it's the mental battle of returning to competition while worrying about the possibility of another setback. However, she's found a positive takeaway from her recovery journey: she's now much more in tune with her body than ever before. "I understand my body too well to a point now," she said via ESPN. "It's something I wasn't in touch enough with before my injuries. And now I understand it very well. You just become hypercautious about certain things."

As Clark continues to find her rhythm, her ability to overcome this mental hurdle will be just as important as her physical recovery. For fans and athletes alike, her journey serves as a powerful reminder that resilience isn't just about getting back on the court—it's about trusting yourself to stay there.
