Yorkshire County Cricket Club has moved quickly to secure a replacement for the injured Will Sutherland, signing Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf as their new overseas player. The 32-year-old brings a wealth of international experience to Headingley, having represented Pakistan in 17 Tests and 85 T20 internationals.
Ashraf, a dynamic bowling all-rounder, will be available for the entirety of the Vitality Blast group stages, as well as rounds seven and eight of the Rothesay County Championship. His recent form in the Pakistan Super League has been particularly impressive—he recently became just the second player in the competition's history to achieve the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets while playing for Islamabad United.
Ashraf expressed his excitement about the move, stating: "I'm delighted to be joining Yorkshire. Many of my fellow Pakistan players have represented the club and have spoken highly of both the environment and the quality of players within the squad. I'm really looking forward to arriving at Headingley."
Yorkshire's general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton, highlighted what Ashraf brings to the team: "Faheem is an experienced multi-format player who will be a really valuable addition to the squad. He brings a great ability to score quick, lower-order runs as well as the skill to make a real impact with the ball."
For fans looking to show their support, this signing adds even more firepower to Yorkshire's lineup—perfect timing for those stocking up on new kit for the upcoming T20 campaign.
