Berkay Yilmaz and SC Freiburg will continue their partnership into the foreseeable future, the Baden-Württemberg club confirmed. It's already been agreed that the 21-year-old will return to Freiburg...

Berkay Yilmaz is set to extend his stay at SC Freiburg, with the Bundesliga side confirming a long-term partnership with the talented left-back. The 21-year-old Turkish defender will return to the Baden-Württemberg club at the end of the season, following a productive two-year loan spell at 1. FC Nürnberg.

This move comes as no surprise to those following Yilmaz's development. During his time in the 2. Bundesliga, he has proven himself as a dynamic and reliable presence on the pitch. Sporting director Klemens Hartenbach couldn't hide his enthusiasm: "Berkay has adapted very well to the second division and showed a good mix of attacking play and defensive responsibility in Nürnberg. Berkay has a big heart and a total identification with SC Freiburg – that's a good foundation for working together on the details. We're looking forward to it."

Yilmaz's contributions this season have been impressive, featuring in 32 games for Nürnberg and registering six assists. His ability to push forward while maintaining defensive discipline has made him a key asset, and Freiburg fans will be eager to see him bring that form back to the top flight. For a club known for nurturing young talent, this extension signals another smart investment in the future.
