Mike Yastrzemski drove in the tiebreaking run with a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning, and Mauricio Dubón finished off Chicago with a two-run homer that carried the Atlanta Braves to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night. The Braves extended baseball's best record to 30-13 and made it two in a row over the Cubs, who arrived in Atlanta with the NL's second-best mark but now have lost a season-high four in a row. Shota Imanaga (4-3) was the hard-luck loser for Chicago.

The Atlanta Braves are proving why they own baseball's best record, delivering another statement win against the Chicago Cubs. In a 4-1 victory Wednesday night, the Braves showcased their depth and resilience, improving to an impressive 30-13 and handing the Cubs their fourth straight loss.

The game remained deadlocked until the eighth inning, when veteran Mike Yastrzemski delivered in the clutch. Pinch-hitting for José Azócar, Yastrzemski laced a go-ahead double into the gap, scoring Michael Harris II, who had led off the inning with an infield single. Ha-Seong Kim followed with his first hit of the season, a single to left, setting the stage for more fireworks.

Mauricio Dubón provided the exclamation point, crushing a two-run homer to deep right field, effectively putting the game out of reach. The blast not only sealed the win but also highlighted the Braves' ability to strike quickly and decisively.

Cubs starter Shota Imanaga (4-3) pitched well into the eighth but was the hard-luck loser. He allowed a solo homer to rookie Drake Baldwin in the fourth—a 402-foot drive into the Braves' bullpen—but otherwise kept Chicago in the game. The Cubs tied it in the fifth when Carson Kelly singled and later scored on a Nico Hoerner RBI single, capitalizing on a walk by Braves starter JR Ritchie.

Ritchie, making his fourth big league start, worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits but struggling with command (three walks, 87 pitches). The bullpen took over from there, with Robert Suarez (4-0) earning the win with a scoreless eighth and Raisel Iglesias notching his eighth save while keeping his season ERA spotless.

The Cubs managed just four hits—all singles—after being held to one hit in the series opener, a 5-2 Braves win. The series finale Thursday promises more drama, with Atlanta sending lefty Chris Sale (6-2, 2.20 ERA) to the mound against Chicago's Ben Brown (1-1, 1.82).
