Yaroslav Amosov isn't just dreaming of wins—he's dreaming of a war. After a dominant second-round submission victory over Joel Alvarez at UFC 328, the Ukrainian standout made it clear: he wants a five-round bloodbath in the Octagon.

The former Bellator welterweight champion looked sharp and relentless at the Prudential Center in Newark, controlling Alvarez on the ground before locking in an arm-triangle choke that forced the tap. It was his second straight submission finish since joining the UFC, and it kept his record spotless inside the promotion at 2-0.

"If I can do knockout or submission, finish it, it's of course much better than a full fight," Amosov said in his post-fight interview. "But sometimes, my dream—full fight, five rounds, hard fight, bones to bones. Much blood. Hard, very close fight."

Amosov's journey to this point has been anything but ordinary. He dominated Bellator's welterweight division before suffering his only professional loss to Jason Jackson in 2023. When the PFL absorbed Bellator, Amosov fought once on the regional circuit before signing with the UFC. And all the while, he took up arms to defend his homeland of Ukraine during the Russian invasion in 2022—a reminder that for this fighter, the cage is far from the only battlefield.

Now, Amosov has his eyes on the next challenge. He specifically mentioned watching the co-main event between Sean Brady and Joaquin Buckley, which took place later on the same card. "Buckley vs. Brady, we will see how this plays out. I think this fight makes sense," he said. "Because we are fighting on the same card, same day. We need same time for recovery."

Brady went on to dominate Buckley on the ground for three rounds, earning a unanimous decision win. For Amosov, that result only sharpens the picture. "I want to work toward the gold," he said. And with his blend of elite grappling, unbreakable will, and a hunger for the kind of fight that leaves everything in the cage, the welterweight division just got a new contender who isn't afraid to bleed for his shot.
