Recapping the Yankees’ minor league affiliates’ results from May 7th.

The Yankees' minor league affiliates delivered a night of resilience on May 7th, with two teams staging impressive comebacks while another struggled to find their footing. Here's how the action unfolded across the farm system.

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders: L, 3-8 at Worcester Red Sox

The RailRiders couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling to Worcester despite some bright spots at the plate. Shortstop Anthony Volpe continued to showcase his all-around game, doubling in a run and swiping his second base of the season. Third baseman George Lombard Jr. also showed off his wheels with a stolen base, while second baseman Oswaldo Cabrera delivered a booming double to center field in the first inning to plate a run. Designated hitter Marco Luciano, recently promoted from Somerset, chipped in with two hits in his Triple-A debut.

On the mound, starter Dom Hamel endured a tough outing, allowing six earned runs over 4.2 innings. However, relievers Dylan Coleman and Rafael Montero restored order with three scoreless, hitless innings to close the game.

Double-A Somerset Patriots: W, 6-5 at Reading Fightin Phils

Down 5-1 after five innings, the Patriots mounted a furious comeback, scoring five runs over the next two frames to snatch the lead. The rally was powered by two solo home runs from third baseman Tyler Hardman and center fielder Jace Avina, both of whom clubbed their ninth homers of the season. Avina's blast in the seventh tied the game at 5-5, setting the stage for left fielder Jackson Castillo to deliver the go-ahead single, extending his hitting streak to 13 games.

Somerset's bullpen was nothing short of dominant, tossing four innings of scoreless, no-hit ball. Ben Grable earned the win, while Chris Kean locked down the save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

What to Watch For

With Avina and Hardman both reaching double-digit homers early in the season, Somerset's lineup is proving to be a force to be reckoned with. The Patriots have now hit multiple homers in a franchise-record streak, a testament to their power-hitting depth. Meanwhile, Volpe's continued production at Triple-A suggests he's knocking on the door for a call-up, making him a name to keep an eye on for Yankees fans.
