ARLINGTON, Texas — Jazz Chisholm had a lot of fun Monday night, especially when he homered in the fourth inning off Rangers starter Jack Leiter.

That’s when the Yankees' flamboyant second baseman broke into a slow, showboating trot around the bases. Like his first two homers of the season, both in the last week, he raised his arms, pointed to opponents and crossed home plate pretending like he’s an option quarterback faking a handoff.

It’s entertaining if you’re a Yankees fan ... and probably hated by everyone else.

Chisholm’s night turned painful right before he was on the receiving end of a flip from shortstop Jose Caballero on a fielder’s choice that was the final out in a 4-2 Yanks win over the Rangers.

For Tuesday’s game versus the Rangers, Yankees -1.5 run line is currently set at +150 on BetMGM. Our comprehensive BetMGM Sportsbook review provides a guide on how to navigate their app.

With two outs and a runner on first, Josh Smith hit a 99.6 mph groundball right at Chisholm, who got his glove down to make the play before it took a bad hop on the hard Glove Life Field turf.

When the ball shot up off Chisholm’s face, Smith reached first base and the official scorer ruled it an E-4.

After the game, Chisholm returned from a post-game shower to his locker wrapped in a towel while holding a large icepack up to his face.

“Hit me right in the jaw,” he mumbled to NJ.com. “This turf is hard as a rock. It almost F’d me up.”

Chisholm said he’d be “all right,” but it was a scare ... a painful one.

Three days after hurting his right calf jogging from first to second base on a walk last Friday in Houston, Giancarlo Stanton underwent an IL on Monday that has the slugger on the 10-day injured list with a low-grade strain.

With Stanton’s IL stint backdated three days, he’s eligible to return a week from Wednesday.

Stanton is expected to do an interview before Tuesday night’s game to address his 10th trip to the injured list in nine seasons with the Yankees.

The Yankees appear to be targeting a Friday return for shortstop Anthony Volpe, who began the season on the injured list as he finished up his rehab from offseason left labrum surgery.

After playing eight rehab games in the last two weeks, Volpe is scheduled for two more on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with the Double-A Somerset Patriots.

That’s all the Yankees have announced, though the timing suggests a Friday activation is likely. Thursday is an off day.

“We have not made a decision on that,” manager Aaron Boone said Monday.

Volpe, who played four games with Somerset and then four with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes–Barre, is batting .308 with 1 homer, 3 RBIs, 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in 27 plate appearances.

After consecutive hitless games, Volpe was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs on Sunday in the opener of Scranton’s doubleheader with Rochester. Volpe had off on Monday, a rest day for minor league baseball.

Close to returning from arm surgeries, Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon will get an extra day of rest before making a rehab start with Somerset this week, five days instead of four.
