The Yankees and Rangers wrapped up their three-game series on Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees closed out their three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Thursday afternoon with a decisive 9-2 victory at Yankee Stadium, but the win came with a heavy price. Outfielder Jasson Dominguez was carted off the field after a frightening collision with the left-center field wall while making a spectacular catch on the game's first batter.

Cody Bellinger, watching from right field, saw the play unfold in slow motion. "He just went full speed into that chain-link fence," Bellinger recalled. The impact was so severe that catcher J.C. Escarra admitted, "I was frightened when he was on the ground and not moving. When Jasson didn't move for five or 10 seconds, I thought something must be wrong."

Fortunately, Dominguez eventually stirred, raised his arm, and stood up before being taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital for evaluation. After the game, manager Aaron Boone provided an update that brought some relief to the Yankees clubhouse. "The concussion testing so far is negative," Boone said. "That's good. We'll obviously continue to monitor that. He's got a low grade, minor AC sprain of his left shoulder. That'll put him on the IL, and that could be a few weeks."

Third baseman Ryan McMahon echoed the concern shared by everyone in the dugout. "From my point of view, man, it looked like he smashed his face right into it. I think he's doing all right, but that moment you're just more worried about the guy than anything else."

With Dominguez headed to the injured list, the Yankees are turning to one of their most exciting prospects. The team announced that 6-foot-7 center fielder Spencer Jones will be called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for his first big-league opportunity. Jones has been on fire lately, hitting .258 with 11 homers and 41 RBI in 33 games, but he's been especially hot over his last eight contests, batting .353 with six home runs and 15 RBI.

"Well, Spencer's playing really well and on the (40-man) roster," Boone said, confirming the move. Dominguez will remain in concussion protocol for several days, and the team will monitor his progress closely.

For a young player like Dominguez, who has already dealt with his share of injuries at just 23 years old, this latest setback is particularly tough. "It sucks," Bellinger said. "I feel bad for him. I love that kid. I really do. I've got nothing but love for the way he handles everything."

As the Yankees finish off a strong 6-1 homestand, all eyes will be on Jones as he steps into the spotlight—and on Dominguez as he begins his road to recovery.
