New York Yankees left fielder Jasson Dominguez left his most recent game April 29 after he was hit by a pitch by Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.

Max Schuemann took over in left field for Dominguez, who was 0-for-1 in the game at Globe Life Field.

The game is just the fourth for Dominguez at the MLB level since he was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

It’s never a good time to get hurt. Dominguez, who’s been waiting for a long runway to establish himself in the Yankees’ outfield rotation, could not have picked a worse time.

The Yankees designated veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk for assignment April 28, effectively clearing Dominguez’s biggest obstacle to more regular playing time.

Dominguez, 23, has appeared in parts of the last three season for the Yankees. He’s slashing .245/.325/.392 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs.

As recently as last year, Dominguez was the top prospect in the organization. This could be a prove-it year for Dominguez to show the Yankees he belongs.

A switch-hitter batting left against the right-handed Eovaldi, Dominguez was hit by an 89-mph cutter in the fourth inning.
