WWE Superstar Chelsea Green is back on the road to recovery after a successful heart procedure, and she's not holding back on sharing her journey with fans.
The 35-year-old wrestling star revealed on Tuesday, May 5, that she underwent surgery to address supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)—a condition she's been quietly battling for a full decade. In an emotional Instagram post, Green shared a hospital bed selfie alongside her husband, fellow WWE star Matt Cardona, whom she married in December 2021.
"After 10 years, doctors finally caught my SVT and I was able to get a heart procedure done! 3 hours later and I'm on the mend," Green wrote, showing off the flowers and well-wishes she'd received from loved ones, including a gift basket featuring Khloe Kardashian's Khloud popcorn.
But the road to this moment wasn't easy. Green admitted to feeling the nerves before going under, sharing another pre-op photo on her Instagram Stories with a candid caption: "lollll me trying to smile for a pre-op pic but actually crying 🤣🤣🤣."
For those unfamiliar, SVT is a type of irregular heartbeat that affects the heart's upper chambers. According to the Mayo Clinic, it can cause the heart to beat between 150 and 220 times per minute—sometimes even faster. Symptoms include palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, and even fainting.
Green's condition hit a terrifying peak recently during WrestleMania, where she revealed her "latest episode" pushed her resting heart rate to a staggering 228 beats per minute for nearly 15 minutes. In a post on X, she detailed the procedure itself, noting that Dr. Girgis spent three hours working on her—and that she had to remain awake for the final hour.
Thankfully, the procedure was a success, and Green is now focused on recovery. For fans and fellow athletes alike, her openness serves as a powerful reminder that even the toughest competitors need to prioritize their health—both inside and outside the ring.
