Wrobleski dominates Mets behind two-hit gem

LOS ANGELES — The crowd at Dodger Stadium didn’t need a radar gun reading to understand what was unfolding Monday night.

The electricity at Dodger Stadium on Monday night didn't come from a roaring crowd or a high-velocity fastball. It came from the quiet, surgical precision of Justin Wrobleski, who delivered a masterclass in pitching efficiency against the New York Mets.

From the first pitch, Wrobleski was in complete control, setting a dominant tone by retiring the first 13 batters he faced. He carved through the Mets lineup with a rhythm that felt like a throwback to a different era of baseball.

“It’s something I think that’s really cool and not a lot of people do anymore,” Wrobleski said of his economical approach, reflecting on a complete game that was just out of reach.

His no-hit bid was only broken up in the fifth inning by a Jorge Polanco single, which Wrobleski promptly erased by inducing a double play. He continued to execute with relentless focus, carrying the gem into the eighth inning before Francisco Alvarez lined a clean single to center.

“The key is to keep attacking,” Wrobleski emphasized. “That’s always the goal for me.”

Manager Dave Roberts praised the performance as a "great Major League outing," a significant statement given Wrobleski's recent transition from a bullpen role. Pushing him deep into the game was a testament to both his performance and the organization's confidence in his development.

“For me, the decision was, you’re talking about the health of a player,” Roberts explained, noting the careful management of Wrobleski's workload after seeing his velocity dip late.

The Dodgers' offense ensured his brilliant effort wasn't wasted. Will Smith sparked the scoring early with an RBI single in the first inning, providing all the support Wrobleski would need on a night where he was simply untouchable.
