In a major win for the USF Bulls' recruiting efforts, new head coach Brian Hartline has secured his first wide receiver commitment in the current class—and it's a player he's been pursuing with relentless focus. Austin Busso, a 6-foot, 180-pound standout from Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic, announced his decision to join the Bulls, giving Hartline a key building block for his inaugural recruiting cycle.

Busso, ranked as the No. 25 prospect in New Jersey, chose USF over a competitive list of suitors that included Ole Miss, Tennessee, James Madison, Connecticut, and Wake Forest. For Hartline, known for his elite track record as a wide receiver developer during his tenure at Ohio State, landing Busso represents a significant early statement in the Sunshine State and beyond.

"I chose USF because I felt like it was the best fit for me," Busso told Rivals. "The moment I first visited, I knew it was home."

The relationship between Busso and Hartline began last summer, well before Hartline took the helm in Tampa. That consistency and genuine connection never wavered. "I love the way Coach Hartline cares about his players and how he's going to put everyone in the best position possible," Busso added. "He's been honest with me since day one."

Hartline's reputation as one of college football's premier wide receiver coaches—having developed NFL talent at Ohio State—played a pivotal role in Busso's decision. The young receiver sees a clear path to growth under a coach who knows what it takes to reach the next level. "I've got a great relationship with all the coaches," Busso said. "We've been in contact since last June, and that meant a lot to me."

With Busso's commitment, the Bulls now have a foundational piece for Hartline's first class. He joins quarterback James Perrone on USF's commitment list, giving the program a promising offensive core to build around. For Bulls fans, this is a clear signal that Hartline's recruiting prowess is already making waves in Tampa.
