The TCU Horned Frogs are building serious momentum in the transfer portal this offseason. Head coach Mark Campbell secured a major backcourt boost on Thursday, landing a commitment from North Carolina sophomore guard Lanie Grant.
Grant, a 5-foot-9 sharpshooter from Midlothian, Virginia, brings proven scoring and elite shooting to Fort Worth. In her sophomore season with the Tar Heels, she averaged 10.8 points per game while connecting on a blistering 41.9% of her attempts from three-point range. Her efficiency was impressive across the board, shooting 44% from the field overall.
Her experience is another key asset; Grant played in 71 games over two seasons in the tough ACC, making 31 starts. She was a significant contributor for a UNC team that finished 28-8 and third in the conference this past season, starting 29 of those contests. Her pedigree is strong, having been named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and arriving in college as a former Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and a top-60 national prospect.
Grant marks the second high-profile transfer to join TCU this spring, following the addition of former Stanford forward and five-star recruit Lara Somfai. This one-two punch signals clear intent from Coach Campbell to elevate the Horned Frogs' roster with established, high-caliber talent, making them a team to watch in the Big 12.
