The Toronto Tempo are making waves ahead of their inaugural WNBA season, signing Canadian standout Yvonne Ejim to a training camp contract. Ejim, a 6-foot forward from Calgary, Alberta, brings an impressive collegiate resume to the mix, having been a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year during her storied career at Gonzaga.

If Ejim secures a spot on the Tempo's final roster, she would join Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot as the only active Gonzaga alums in the WNBA—a testament to the Bulldogs' growing influence in the league. Ejim's professional journey has already taken her overseas, where she most recently played for IDK Euskotren in San Sebastian, Spain. In 27 games across the Liga Femenina Endesa, she averaged 9.8 points and 5.9 rebounds, shooting an efficient 50.3% from two-point range and 37.8% from beyond the arc.

Originally selected by the Indiana Fever with the 33rd overall pick in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft, Ejim was waived before the season began. Now, she gets a fresh opportunity with the expansion Tempo, who are building their roster from the ground up. Toronto currently has 16 players under contract, but with only 12 regular-season spots available (plus two developmental slots), the competition will be fierce. The Tempo must trim their roster before tipping off their inaugural season against the Washington Mystics on Friday, May 8, at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

For Ejim, this camp is more than just a chance to make the team—it's an opportunity to represent her home country on the biggest stage in women's basketball. As the Tempo gear up for their historic debut, all eyes will be on whether this Gonzaga legend can carve out a place in WNBA history.
