Though his future in Milwaukee is in doubt, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is readying for a big season: 'I'm not in pain.'

The NBA offseason is officially underway, and for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the work never stops. Even as questions swirl about his future with the franchise, the two-time MVP is already back in the gym, preparing for what he hopes will be a bounce-back season.

For Antetokounmpo, the 2025-26 campaign ended far earlier than anyone expected. After an awkward landing on a dunk back in March, the 31-year-old was sidelined for the remainder of the season. It was a frustrating end to a year that saw him play a career-low 36 games, snapping an impressive nine-year All-NBA streak and his seven-year run of top-four MVP finishes.

But if you think a tough season and ongoing trade rumors are slowing him down, think again. "Man, I've been working," Antetokounmpo said in a recent interview. "I've really been working."

After months of recovery, the Greek Freak says his body feels better than it has in years. "I'm not in pain," he shared. "My knee's not hurting. My back is not hurting. Usually, I'm so beat up by May that I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to wake up the next day and I'm super sore. Now I'm waking up and jumping out of the bed."

That's music to the ears of Bucks fans—and any basketball fan who loves seeing the game's most dominant players at full strength. Antetokounmpo has been eyeing the summer of 2026 for months, knowing it could be his first full offseason in years without the wear and tear of a deep playoff run.

Of course, the elephant in the room remains his future in Milwaukee. While Antetokounmpo has endorsed new head coach Taylor Jenkins, he's been clear that his contract situation is out of his hands. "It's not up to me," he said back in April. With one year left on his deal and the Bucks' ownership reportedly weighing a trade or extension by October, the drama is far from over.

But for now, the focus is on what Antetokounmpo does best: getting better. Whether he's wearing Bucks green or something else next season, one thing is certain—he'll be ready to dominate. And for those of us who love the game, that's a win no matter where he plays.
