The Wisconsin women's basketball program is making serious moves this offseason. Head Coach Robin Pingeton is aggressively building her roster for the 2026-27 campaign, and the latest addition brings an exciting international flavor to Madison.

Following the high-profile commitment of McDonald's All-American Addie Deal and the addition of NEC Player of the Year Kadidia Toure, the Badgers have secured a commitment from Alicia Courthiau, a 5-foot-10 guard from Belgium.

Courthiau isn't your typical incoming freshman. At 20 years old, she arrives with significant professional and international experience, having already competed for Belgium's senior national team and its U20 squad. She spent last season playing against seasoned veterans in EuroCup Women for Castors Braine, where she averaged 13.7 points per game and showcased elite shooting efficiency.

Her statistical profile is eye-opening. During the EuroCup season, she shot a blistering 57.6% from three-point range and 62.8% from the field overall. She carried that form into the U20 FIBA World Championships last August, leading Belgium with 14.7 points per game while maintaining a 55.6% clip from beyond the arc.

This proven scoring punch and high-level experience could provide immediate relief for a Badgers squad that expects to lose its top four scorers from a team that reached the WBIT semifinals. Courthiau's ability to create her own shot, facilitate for others, and defend multiple positions makes her a versatile and valuable piece for Pingeton's system.

"Alicia is a very talented young player who has competed at the highest levels," Pingeton said. "She'll make an immediate impact... and will be a great addition to our Badger family."

Alongside Courthiau, Deal, and Toure, the Badgers' incoming class also includes freshman guard Giselle Janowski, signaling a clear and ambitious reload for the program's future.
