After previously having a top ten, the Wisconsin Badgers cracked the top four for three-star offensive tackle Reed Gerken.

The Wisconsin Badgers are heating up on the recruiting trail, narrowing down their pursuit of three-star offensive tackle Reed Gerken to a top-four list—and they've cracked it. After previously holding a spot in his top ten, the Badgers have surged into the final group of contenders for the 6-foot-5, 290-pound standout from Perrysburg, Ohio.

"Thank you Jesus!!! And then there were 4," Gerken wrote in a social media post, signaling the next step in his recruitment. The four schools still in the running are Illinois, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, and Wisconsin—a mix that keeps the Big Ten presence limited to just two programs.

For Wisconsin, this is a significant move. Gerken is ranked among the top three offensive tackles in Ohio, according to 247Sports' Riley Alberts, and his size and skill set make him a coveted prospect for any program looking to bolster its offensive line. The Badgers have a storied history of developing linemen, and landing Gerken would continue that tradition.

The recruitment isn't over yet, though. 247Sports has logged an expert prediction favoring Kentucky, but Wisconsin isn't backing down. The Badgers were Gerken's first visit during a busy spring schedule that included stops at Michigan State, Tennessee, North Carolina, NC State, Cincinnati, and Ohio State. Beating out that list of schools for even a visit is a win, but now it's about closing the deal.

Head coach Luke Fickell and his staff have been in this race since February, when Gerken first released his top ten. With only two Big Ten schools left in the mix, the path is clearer, but nothing is settled until the prospect makes his final call. For Badgers fans, this is a battle worth watching—and one that could pay off big on the offensive line.
