The Wisconsin Badgers are making a strong push on the recruiting trail, landing a spot in the final six for four-star linebacker Tate Wallace. The Regina High School standout from Iowa City, IA, announced his top contenders on Thursday, April 30, putting Wisconsin in elite company alongside Minnesota, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Arizona State, and Arizona.

Interestingly, Wallace’s list notably excludes in-state power Iowa and Iowa State, giving the Badgers a geographical edge. However, the competition remains fierce for the 6-foot-2, 226-pound linebacker, who is widely regarded as a top-tier talent in the 2027 class.

According to 247Sports, Wallace ranks as the No. 2 overall player in Iowa, the No. 29 linebacker nationally, and a top-400 recruit in the country. His commitment would be a major boost for Wisconsin, especially after the team recently missed out on three-star defensive lineman Anitoni Tahi.

Head coach Luke Fickell has already secured 10 commitments for this class, but the balance is heavily skewed toward offense, with seven of those pledges on that side of the ball. The defensive haul currently includes only two safeties and an EDGE rusher, making Wallace a priority target to help shore up the future of the Badgers’ defense.

For Wisconsin fans, this recruitment is one to watch closely as the linebacker’s decision looms. Stay tuned for updates on this key battle as the Badgers look to add another standout to their roster.
