Wisconsin fails to make top five for prized four-star cornerback

Four-star cornerback Raheem Floyd revealed his top five, an announcement that excluded the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Wisconsin Badgers suffered a tough recruiting blow as four-star cornerback Raheem Floyd unveiled his top five schools, leaving the Badgers out of the running entirely. Despite being an Illinois native, Floyd's list is dominated by SEC powerhouses: Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, and Ole Miss.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, Floyd is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in Illinois by Rivals, playing his high school ball at East St. Louis High School. The Badgers had a scheduled visit with Floyd later this month, but that wasn't enough to secure a spot in his final five.

This news stings a little extra for Wisconsin, especially after recently learning the commitment date for a priority four-star offensive tackle target. While the Badgers have built an impressive 2027 recruiting class, it's heavily skewed toward offensive players. Adding a lockdown cornerback like Floyd would have elevated the entire class to another level.

Now, head coach Luke Fickell and his staff must regroup and hit the recruiting trail again to address their defensive backfield needs. For a program known for developing NFL-caliber defensive backs, missing out on a top in-state talent is a reminder that recruiting battles are never won until the ink is dry.
