Winters Grady's college basketball journey is taking a new turn within the Big Ten. The former Michigan wing, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, announced via social media on Friday that he will continue his career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Grady's commitment comes just days after an official visit to Minneapolis. He becomes the first player from Michigan's national championship-winning team to find a new home via the portal. A highly-touted four-star recruit and top-100 prospect out of Prolific Prep in California, Grady's freshman season in Ann Arbor was hampered by a persistent foot injury and a deep veteran rotation ahead of him.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, the versatile wing appeared in only nine games for the Wolverines, averaging 2.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in limited minutes. His last appearance was on January 2nd, after which he opted to shut down for the season to address the foot issue that has lingered since high school. He is expected to apply for a medical redshirt, which would grant him four full seasons of eligibility moving forward.

He now joins a Minnesota program looking to build under head coach Niko Medved. The Golden Gophers finished 15-18 overall last season, battling injuries and an 11th-place finish in the conference. Grady's potential, once healthy, could provide a significant boost to their perimeter scoring and athleticism. Meanwhile, Michigan fans will watch to see where fellow portal entrant Malik Kordel lands next.
