Sunderland's attacking star Wilson Isidor is reportedly set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer, and the Black Cats are unlikely to block his exit, according to The Sun. The 25-year-old Haiti international was instrumental in helping manager Regis Le Bris secure Premier League promotion last season, notching 12 goals and two assists in 43 Championship appearances, including a crucial strike against Coventry City in the play-off semi-final first leg.
This season, Isidor has managed five goals in 30 Premier League outings, with an impressive four coming in his first nine top-flight games. However, the French-born forward has not started a league match since last December, as Le Bris has preferred Brian Brobbey in the starting lineup. Frustrated by limited playing time, Isidor is eager to move on for regular minutes elsewhere.
The wantaway attacker certainly won't lack suitors in England's top division. Everton and Nottingham Forest pursued a permanent deal for the Sunderland star during the winter transfer window, while Crystal Palace and Burnley explored late loan moves—though time ran out to finalize an agreement. It remains unclear if any of these four clubs will reignite their interest this summer, but Sunderland may need to lower their £25 million asking price, which reportedly deterred potential buyers in January.
The Black Cats previously rejected bids for the former Zenit Saint Petersburg striker last summer, but having been willing to sell him in the winter window, they are now expected to accommodate his departure. Currently sitting 12th in the Premier League, Sunderland could still qualify for Europe if they win their remaining three matches—against Manchester United, Everton, and Chelsea—and results elsewhere go their way. However, the team will need to snap out of their recent slump, having lost two and drawn one of their last three games.
