The Portland Trail Blazers will host the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the opening round of the NBA postseason while Victor Wembanyama is injured.
After winning Game 1 at home in San Antonio, Wembanyama took a hard fall in the second quarter during Game 2 against the Trail Blazers. He left the game early and Portland went on to win, 106-103. He was diagnosed with a concussion. Wembanyama was not allowed to resume full participation for 48 hours following the injury, per NBA protocol.
He participated in cardio work on Wednesday and returned to practice on Thursday. While he is expected to travel with the team to Portland, he is listed as questionable for Game 3.
Concussions typically require between seven to nine days of recovery, so even if Game 3 is unlikely, he could near a return for Game 4.
Wembanyama was recently unanimously named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year. His impact is significant on both ends of the floor and his status will likely determine the fate of the series against the Trail Blazers for the Spurs.
