Will Still is emerging as the frontrunner for the vacant managerial position at FC Lorient, sparking excitement among fans who remember his dynamic tenure in Ligue 1. The 31-year-old tactician has been out of work since his departure from Southampton earlier this season, but a return to French football could be on the horizon this summer.

Lorient will be searching for a new head coach at the end of the campaign, as current boss Olivier Pantaloni has confirmed he will leave upon the expiry of his contract. The club—affectionately known as Les Merlus—have punched above their weight since earning promotion back to Ligue 1 this season, and they are already drawing up a shortlist of potential successors to build on that momentum.

According to a report from L’Équipe, Still tops that list. The Anglo-Belgian manager has previously impressed in France with Stade de Reims and RC Lens, earning a reputation for his energetic touchline presence and tactical adaptability. It seems the feeling is mutual, as Still has expressed openness to a Ligue 1 return.

Speaking on Ligue 1 Plus on Sunday, Still admitted he has "no idea" where his next job will be, but added, "I hope so. It would be great, but I don't hold the keys to my future. It will depend on a few things. I haven't closed the door to anything, so time will tell." When pressed about the Lorient links, the former Southampton boss remained diplomatic, praising Pantaloni's work and stressing that "there is absolutely nothing concrete or signed or anything like that."

For now, the speculation adds an intriguing layer to Lorient's season finale—and for fans of stylish, attacking football, a Still-led project in Brittany could be a compelling story to follow this summer.
