The Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball program has secured a significant addition to its frontcourt, landing a commitment from transfer forward Will Shortt. The 6-foot-8 Australian announced his decision to join the Horizon League squad via Instagram.
Shortt brings two seasons of NCAA experience from his time at Niagara University, where he showed marked development. After averaging 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds as a freshman, he took a step forward this past season, posting 6.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while earning 25 starts for the Purple Eagles.
His international path to Division I basketball included playing club ball for Basketball Auckland in New Zealand before honing his skills at the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida. At NKU, Shortt will look to use his size and growing experience to bolster a Norse team that consistently contends at the top of the Horizon League.
This transfer adds an intriguing piece for Head Coach Darrin Horn as he builds his roster for the upcoming season, aiming to add depth and versatility to the Norse lineup.
