All eyes are on Alabama State quarterback Andrew Body as the Hornets approach their annual Black and Gold spring game this Saturday. The reigning HBCU National Player of the Year is on the mend from a shoulder injury that cut his 2025 season short, leaving fans to wonder: will he take the field?

Body suffered the injury during a Week 10 victory over Prairie View A&M, an unfortunate setback that required offseason arthroscopic surgery. Since spring practices began in early March, he has been a constant presence on the sideline—dressed in his red practice jersey, mentally running plays, and guiding his teammates from behind the offense, but he has yet to throw a pass in practice.

When asked about his status for the scrimmage, Body offered a tantalizing hint. "Y'all might see something. I might pull out a little teaser for you," he said, sparking speculation about a possible cameo appearance.

However, head coach Eddie Robinson Jr. provided a more measured perspective, suggesting any involvement would be extremely limited. "He might throw one ball during warmups, but that might be it," Robinson said with a laugh, emphasizing the priority is a full recovery for the fall campaign.

This injury is particularly notable as it’s the same shoulder that sidelined Body briefly in 2024, though last season's issue was less severe. Both player and coach have maintained that if a SWAC title had been on the line late last year, Body would have pushed to play.

His health is the linchpin for Alabama State's aspirations in the coming season. As the Hornets look to build on their progress, having a fully operational Andrew Body under center will be crucial for any championship pursuit. For now, the spring game serves as a checkpoint in that recovery journey, with the real test set for the fall.
