The Green Bay Packers have made their first selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, and it's South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse.

Though Cisse should compete for a starting spot in the Packers' secondary and could be a difference-maker, he wasn't even the best cornerback on the board.

Tennessee's Jermod McCoy was right there for the taking for Green Bay, but general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Mike LaFleur opted for Cisse instead.

It's pretty simple: McCoy has serious injury concerns.

The Tennessee product missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a torn ACL, and NFL teams are concerned that he could need another surgery.

McCoy should still be a Day 2 selection due to his immense talent, but his injury question marks could be why Green Bay selected Cisse instead.
