The Los Angeles Rams may have found their next great tight end in Max Klare, and the future has never looked brighter for the Ohio State product. Selected in the second round of the draft, Klare steps into an offense that's undergoing a quiet revolution—one that could turn him into a household name.

Head coach Sean McVay, a former tight ends coach himself, is reimagining how the position is used. Last season, his 13 personnel packages (three tight ends on the field) caught defenses off guard, blending run and pass looks with physical mismatches against smaller linebackers and defensive backs. It was a masterclass in scheming pass catchers open.

This offseason, McVay doubled down. By passing on wide receivers like Makai Lemon and Kenyon Sadiq, he signaled a clear shift: the tight end room, not the receiver room, is now the engine of this offense. Terrance Ferguson is expected to operate almost like a supersized slot receiver—think Cooper Kupp with more muscle—finding soft spots in zone coverage and dominating the middle of the field.

That leaves a need for a more traditional tight end. Enter Klare. With his athleticism, fundamental technique, and sky-high ceiling, he's the perfect complement to Ferguson's hybrid role. And with Matthew Stafford still showing a fondness for targeting bigger bodies—just look at how often he fed Colby Parkinson last season—Klare is poised to become Stafford's go-to option in the red zone and beyond.

In a league that's constantly chasing the next evolution, the Rams have built an offense that's ahead of the curve. And Max Klare? He's the future of the tight end position, wearing the horns.
