Here's what we know about Franz Wagner's injury status as the Magic face a do-or-die Game 7.

The Orlando Magic are staring down a historic opportunity—and a daunting challenge—as they prepare for a do-or-die Game 7 against the Detroit Pistons. After squandering a 3-1 series lead, the Magic can still pull off one of the rarest feats in NBA playoff history: a No. 8 seed taking down a No. 1 seed on the road. But to make that dream a reality, they'll need every bit of firepower they can muster. Unfortunately, that's exactly what they'll be missing.

Star forward Franz Wagner has been ruled out for his third consecutive game with a right calf strain. This is a massive blow for Orlando, and the timing couldn't be worse. Wagner's absence in Games 5 and 6 was glaring—his scoring, playmaking, and defensive versatility were sorely missed as the Pistons stormed back to even the series. It's no coincidence that the Magic lost both games.

Perhaps the most critical loss is Wagner's defense on Pistons star Cade Cunningham. According to NBA.com, when Wagner was the primary defender on Cunningham during the series, the Pistons' leader shot just 7-of-22 (31.8%) with six turnovers across four games. Without Wagner on the floor, Cunningham averaged 45.7 points per 100 possessions against the Magic—more than double his output when Wagner was guarding him (21.9 points per 100). In Games 5 and 6 alone, Cunningham exploded for 77 combined points on 23-of-46 shooting. Woof. That's a tough pill to swallow for Orlando.

Now, the Magic face a simple, brutal reality: they must keep their season alive without one of their best players. There's no other option. Game 7 is a test of resilience, depth, and heart—and for Orlando, it's all or nothing.
