For Juventus to try and achieve important goals, they need their diminutive No. 7 to come through as much as anybody.

When Juventus needed a spark in their frustrating 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona, one player stood out from the rest. Francisco Conceição didn't just show up—he showed out.

The Bianconeri's second consecutive stalemate was a dreary affair in front of goal, leaving them clinging to fourth place with just three games remaining. Two points behind Milan and only one ahead of Roma, the pressure is mounting. But if there's one reason for hope in Turin, it's their diminutive No. 7.

Conceição arrived at Juventus in August 2024 with an already impressive footballing résumé. He had represented European giants Porto and Ajax, and scored on his competitive Portugal debut during Euro 2024. His start in Italian football was electric—a goal in just his second match against Genoa, followed by assists in three of his next five appearances.

Though his production slowed slightly, he still finished the season with 7 goals and 6 assists in 40 appearances. But after navigating coaching changes from Thiago Motta to Igor Tudor, Conceição has found his true form under Luciano Spalletti. The proof? He led Portugal to glory in the 2025 UEFA Nations League and has since become a vital cog on Juventus' right flank.

The numbers tell the story. Only Kenan Yıldız has registered more shots, shots on target, and successful dribbles per 90 minutes this season. Meanwhile, only Weston McKennie and Yıldız have more assists in Serie A. But Conceição's impact goes beyond attack—he's making more interceptions (0.3 per game) and tackles (1.0) than last season, while winning 4.1 ground duels per 90, a significant jump from 3.6.

His dribbling success rate has climbed from the 48-49% range to 51-52%, and he's gone from 1.3 successful dribbles per 90 to 1.8. More importantly, he's shown remarkable growth in tactical awareness. Last season, Conceição was largely confined to the right touchline. This season, he's far more willing to exploit central spaces, making him a more unpredictable and dangerous threat.

For Juventus to achieve their ambitious goals, they need their No. 7 to keep coming through. And right now, Francisco Conceição is doing exactly that.
