Why Bryson DeChambeau may choose YouTube career over PGA Tour if LIV Golf folds

Here why DeChambeau said he'd be interested in going solo on YouTube.

As LIV Golf faces an uncertain future with its Saudi Arabian funding set to dry up after the 2026 season, Bryson DeChambeau is already plotting an unconventional path forward—one that could see him swap tournament leaderboards for YouTube thumbnails.

The two-time U.S. Open champion, whose contract with LIV expires at the end of this season, has been one of the league's biggest stars. But if the league folds or he decides to walk away, DeChambeau isn't looking back at the PGA Tour. Instead, he's eyeing a solo career as a content creator.

"I think, from my perspective, I'd love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more," DeChambeau told ESPN ahead of the LIV Virginia tournament. "I'd love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I'd love to play tournaments that want me."

It's a bold vision, but one that makes sense for a golfer who has built a massive digital following. DeChambeau's YouTube channel has become a powerhouse, giving him the creative freedom and flexible schedule he craved—and the very reasons he left the PGA Tour for LIV in the first place. With his financial future already secured, he's in a unique position to forge his own way.

While a return to the PGA Tour remains technically possible, DeChambeau has been critical of the Tour's recent direction, making that option less likely. Instead, the 31-year-old could become golf's first true independent star—playing exhibitions, creating viral content, and competing on his own terms.

For now, the golf world watches and waits. But if DeChambeau's YouTube success is any indication, his next chapter might be just as entertaining as anything we've seen on the course.
