The Cleveland Browns came into the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 6 overall pick, and after Carnell Tate went to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4 overall and Arvell Reese went to the New York Giants, the Browns made a move
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Browns are trading down with the Kansas City Chiefs, moving from the No. 6 pick down to the No. 9 pick in Round 1.
It's not a major surprise, as Cleveland had been eyeing a move down in the draft. But why did the Browns move down in the draft with the Chiefs?

"Browns trade: Pick 6. Chiefs trade: Picks 9, 74, 148," Yates reports. "It's two picks coming back to the Browns to move down three spots."
Cleveland made this trade with the Chiefs to pick up some extra draft capital in the 2026 NFL Draft, adding a valuable third-rounder and also picking up an early Day 3 pick from the Chiefs.
With the Browns eyeing a wide receiver, Cleveland might've made this trade down due to Tate coming off the board to the Titans a few picks before the Browns.

But, with offensive tackle the top need for Cleveland this year, this trade-down likely won't hurt the Browns' odds to take a top tackle, with the Chiefs, Washington Commanders, and New Orleans Saints not likely to take offensive linemen.
The Browns could trade down in the draft and pick up a few extra draft picks to bolster their draft pick pool this year.
Andrew Berry now has the No. 9 and No. 24 picks in the first round, while adding a few picks down the board for some solid value.
