As the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours approaches, all eyes are on Rowe Racing—and for good reason. While the team's early-season victory at the second Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) round might have felt a bit premature for their usual low-key style, it's a win that speaks volumes about their readiness.
This year, preparation hasn't gone according to plan for anyone. The season opener was canceled due to snow, and the 24h Qualifiers were interrupted, leaving many teams scrambling for track time. "We had one race cancelled by the snow, so we did a second one, which was okay," Augusto Farfus explained. "But this year, a lot of people could not get the preparation they wished. It's going to be a compromise race."
And that's precisely where Rowe Racing might hold the edge. Their BMW M4 GT3 Evo is a proven package from last season, and the team lineup remains remarkably stable. The only change? Jordan Pepper steps in for Jesse Krohn—a seamless swap, according to Farfus: "He's a complete pro. It's plug-and-play."
Meanwhile, the competition is in flux. The Porsche 911 GT3 R and Ferrari 296 GT3 have both received updates, introducing unknowns. The Mercedes-AMG, a staple for years, is being fielded by new teams. Scherer-Audi has a partially revamped driver lineup. Only the Abt-Lamborghinis offer a similar sense of familiarity, but the DTM squad has yet to prove it can win the main event on pure pace alone.
That leaves Rowe Racing as the defending champion, armed with continuity and chemistry. "Being able to race with the same teammates, with the same lineup, in the same team, makes everything easier," Farfus noted. "Me and Lello, we also do the GT World Challenge together, so we know how to work together. Even if we didn't have enough preparation, I think we're prepared enough to put on a good show."
With a volatile weather forecast, Raffaele Marciello expects a completely different race than what teams trained for. But in a field full of changes and challenges, Rowe Racing's familiar package might just be the ultimate advantage.
