UCF's softball team made the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight season. The Knights face Jacksonville State on May 15.

For the sixth straight season, the UCF Knights are dancing in the NCAA Softball Tournament—a feat that only 20 Division I programs can claim. But if you think that consistency makes the journey feel familiar, think again. The Knights are heading back to Tallahassee, a city that has been both a proving ground and a heartbreak hotel in three of their last four postseason appearances.

This year, UCF enters the Tallahassee Regional as the No. 2 seed, set to face Jacksonville State on May 15 at 2:30 p.m. The ultimate prize? A trip to the Super Regionals—something the Knights have accomplished just once in program history. Standing in their way is host Florida State, the top seed and perennial powerhouse.

But make no mistake: this UCF squad is built differently. The Knights posted a 38-16-1 overall record and a 14-9-1 mark in the Big 12—their best regular-season win total and highest conference finish since joining the league in 2023-24. They've also been mashing the ball like never before, setting a single-season program record with 67 home runs. Five players have cracked double-digit dingers: Beth Damon (15), Kendall Yarnell (14), Sierra Humphreys (13), Izzy Mertes (11), and Aubrey Evans (10).

In the circle, the Knights are anchored by All-Big 12 first-team selection Isabella Vega. The Bradenton native has thrown 140⅔ innings this season, posting a 17-8 record with a 2.89 ERA, 98 strikeouts, 11 complete games, five saves, and a shutout. She's backed by Ava Stuewe and Hildie Dempsey, who each added six wins—though Dempsey's season was cut short by a devastating ACL and meniscus injury in March.

Now, let's break down the competition. Florida State enters as the regional's top seed and one of the nation's most dangerous offensive teams. The Seminoles are led by junior shortstop Isa Torres, the reigning ACC Player of the Year, who is hitting an eye-popping .542—third best in the country. She's also fourth nationally in total hits (90) and on-base percentage (.605). Her 16-game hit streak earlier this season was a program record. Joining her are fellow juniors Jaysoni Beachum and Ashtyn Danley, rounding out a top-three that can change a game in a single swing.

With a powerhouse host, a hungry Jacksonville State squad, and a Knights team that's rewriting its own record books, the Tallahassee Regional promises to be a weekend of high-stakes, high-energy softball. Whether you're tracking Vega's command in the circle or counting the home run fireworks, this is a bracket you won't want to miss.
