It's time to cast your vote! The race for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Prep Athlete of the Week is heating up, and this week's nominees delivered some truly impressive performances on the pitch and the diamond. Let's meet the four standout finalists from the week of April 5-11.
First up is Monroe soccer's dynamic sophomore, Megan Flatt. In a stunning offensive debut, Flatt netted an incredible five goals in Monroe's 6-3 season-opening victory over Temperance Bedford. This breakout performance is even more remarkable considering she played defense her entire freshman year.
On the soccer field for Troy, senior Megan Jasniewicz continues to be a driving force. She led her team in scoring last week, contributing four goals and an assist across two victories to help keep the Colts' undefeated record intact. Her consistent playmaking is a key reason for Troy's strong start.
Switching to softball, Anchor Bay's Megan Leston powered her team to a dominant week. She was instrumental in a commanding 16-3 win over Utica Eisenhower to open the season and helped secure another victory against Grosse Pointe North, showcasing the all-around talent that makes her a player to watch.
Finally, meet Romeo's sophomore pitching sensation, Megan Maximiuk. In her varsity debut, she delivered a complete-game victory over Lake Orion, striking out six. She followed that up with a stellar doubleheader performance against Macomb L'Anse Creuse North, contributing three hits and three RBIs at the plate while also pitching another seven-inning gem with six more strikeouts. A true two-way threat!
