The Brooklyn Nets will have a top-7 pick in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft. Who should they take with the No. 6 pick if the Lottery determines that spot?

The Brooklyn Nets are just days away from a pivotal moment in their rebuild—the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery. With a top-7 pick secured, Sunday's results will determine whether they land the franchise cornerstone they've been searching for. But if the lottery gods place them at No. 6, one name is already generating serious buzz: Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr.

According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, Acuff has become "one of the hottest topics in NBA draft discussions" over the last two months. In a recent lottery simulation via Tankathon, the Nets landed the sixth overall pick—exactly where Wasserman has consistently slotted Acuff in his mock drafts. And for good reason.

Acuff's season was nothing short of electric. He finished the 2025-26 campaign averaging 23.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, shooting an impressive 48.4% from the field and 44.0% from beyond the arc across 36 games. But it was his postseason surge that turned heads—he exploded for 28.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game during the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, while shooting 44.4% from the floor and a blistering 48.3% from three-point range.

His February-through-March tear included a jaw-dropping 49-point performance in an overtime win against Alabama—the kind of game that makes scouts sit up and take notice. "While certain lottery teams at the top could still hesitate on Acuff's measurements, analytics, and defense," Wasserman noted, "his scoring and playmaking have reached convincing enough levels to spark conversations about whether he deserves top-five consideration."

For the Nets, Acuff represents a potential offensive engine—a dynamic guard who can create his own shot and elevate those around him. The concerns are real, particularly around his physical profile and defensive consistency, but his scoring prowess and playmaking ability could be exactly what Brooklyn needs to accelerate their rebuild. As the lottery approaches, all eyes will be on whether the Nets get lucky—and if Acuff is the one to lead them forward.
