Who is Texas A&M's next likely commitment in the 2027 cycle?

After landing 2027 5-star OL Mark Matthew's, another Florida-based 5-star prospect could be the Aggies' next commitment in the 2027 cycle.

The Texas A&M Aggies are riding a wave of recruiting momentum that has the entire college football world taking notice. After securing a massive commitment from 2027 five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews—who chose the Aggies over powerhouse programs like Miami, LSU, and Georgia—the future of the offensive line in College Station has never looked brighter.

Matthews, a dominant 6'6", 300-pound left tackle, joins fellow five-star tackle Kennedy Brown in a 2027 class that currently sits at No. 1 in Rivals' rankings. And if this recruiting surge continues, that top spot isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Much of the credit goes to third-year offensive line coach Adam Cushing, widely regarded as one of the best assistant coaches in the nation. With four 2025 offensive line starters hearing their names called in the 2026 NFL Draft, it's clear that Cushing is building something special. Whether it's pass protection or run blocking, the Aggies' quarterback—whoever that may be over the next three seasons—can rest easy knowing the trenches are in good hands.

But the Aggies aren't stopping there. While Matthews is strictly a left tackle at this stage, Kennedy Brown brings versatility to the table, capable of playing guard or sliding over to right tackle. Pair them with four-star tackles DaMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Kent, and you have a formidable wall of protection. The next challenge? Getting all four to sign on the dotted line by early December.

The Miami Hurricanes haven't given up on Matthews and will continue to pursue him through the summer, but Brown, Johnson, and Kent are seen as solid commitments unlikely to flip. That takes the pressure off head coach Mike Elko and his staff, allowing them to focus on the remaining priority prospects in the 2027 cycle.

So, who's next? For this writer, all signs point to either five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson or five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson. Both have already received predictions to land with the Aggies, and Henderson—who is set to take his official visit to Texas A&M on June 5—has a key connection to the program: he's close friends with Mark Matthews. Like Matthews, Henderson was heavily linked to the Miami Hurricanes early in his recruitment, but the Aggies have since surged ahead.

In fact, Matthews himself made it clear where he stands. In a recent interview with AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings, the five-star tackle stated that Henderson is his No. 1 recruiting target now that Henderson is firmly committed to Texas A&M. That kind of peer recruiting can make all the difference.

With the Aggies' offensive line locked in and the defense potentially getting a major boost, the 2027 class is shaping up to be something truly special in College Station.
