Who is Kristoffer Reitan: Truist winner comes from famous family

Norwegian Kristoffer Reitan is a PGA Tour champion, winning the signature event Truist Championship in his 12th Tour start. Reitan was 15-under 269 for the week.

In just his 12th start on the PGA Tour, Norwegian golfer Kristoffer Reitan has already etched his name into the record books. The 28-year-old captured the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow in dramatic fashion, finishing at 15-under 269 to secure his first Tour victory.

Reitan's final-round 69 was enough to hold off a charging Rickie Fowler (65) and Nicolai Hojgaard (68) by two shots. The victory came with a bit of luck when Alex Fitzpatrick, brother of Matt Fitzpatrick, found trouble on the par-3 17th, double-bogeying to hand Reitan the lead for good.

"I don't have any words," an emotional Reitan said after the win. "This is way more than I expected. For this to happen this quickly is unreal. A dream come true."

His path to the winner's circle was paved by strong recent form. Reitan earned his spot in the Truist field through the Aon Swing 5 rankings, coming off a T14 finish at the Cadillac Championship and a T2 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The Oslo native now stands as just the second Norwegian to win on the PGA Tour, following in the footsteps of Viktor Hovland. He also became the second Norwegian to win on the DP World Tour, again trailing only Hovland.

Reitan's move to Palm Beach Gardens after finishing eighth in the Race to Dubai rankings wasn't just about golf—it was about community. He wanted to live near Hovland and fellow Norwegian Kris Ventura, and now practices with "Team Norway" at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens.

Off the course, Reitan comes from remarkable stock. He's the grandson of Odd Reitan, a billionaire businessman who co-owns the Reitan Group, a Norwegian conglomerate with three business arms: Reitan Retail, Reitan Real Estate, and Reitan Kapital. The company generated roughly $10 billion in revenue in 2022 and employs 38,000 people across Scandinavia and the Baltic region.

His younger sister, Viktoria Reitan, is making her own mark in the spotlight. The 26-year-old performs as alt-pop artist "bby ivy" and has amassed over 340,000 Instagram followers as a rising star in the Norwegian music scene.

For Reitan, the Truist Championship victory isn't just a career milestone—it's a testament to the talent and determination that runs in his family.
